Alright.
You may or may not remember how I had a short 30 second amv to go with both the SoShad and Namiku battle for the end of Dead Inside
Well, I was rewatching the Namiku one again on a whim
And two things about it struck me
1) It was really good, and I'd chosen a lot of good moments to convey what happened in that battle
2) A lot of these good moments go by wayyyyy too fast for anyone to really see (and is potentially hard to watch because the images flash, and if it hurts my eyes when watching, it's gotta be a lot worse for other people, especially those with epilepsy)
So
I thought I'd do a play by play breakdown of what's going on in the video
((The only other option was upload a slow mo version but even then the images go by to fast, also, then it'd have to go w/o music, and, this seemed easier + gave me the chance to talk a lot about it and really tie it in with the battle))

Chapter 246 Commentary: Epligue part 2
Welcome to the last chapter! Is this the last blog post? Oh no. Did you think I was gonna stop after Dead Inside? Yes? Might wanna double check the books bar on the left hand side in that case.
The short story is now that Dead Inside's done, we're moving to book 5, otherwise known as "All that Remains" (it being similar to magik's "Remnants" was completely unintentional. again)
When will book 5 start being posted? Well a week or so break is probably fair, just to give you some time to relax after Dead Inside. I can't wait too long though, I've got a sequence in it that lines up with something in magik's Remnants.
In fact, if I didn't have a sequence planned to coincide with magik, I'd probably have waited on book 5 and gone straight to the Nothing's Fair rewrite. Yes, that's still a thing.
(I'm actually going to stop in the middle of book 5 to rewrite Nothing's Fair haha sorry)
"Rar, didn't you have some Big Thing planned for the end of Dead Inside?" Yes I do! It's called The Dead Inside Package--more details will come on it in a later post. For now, you can check the Thanks/Acknowledgments chapter of Dead Inside, or my FFnet profile for the basics.

Chapter 245 Commentary: Epilogue part 1
I could post like a playlist with this but I can't think of anything that's relevant to the end of Dead Inside that I don't want posted with ch246 so

If you're curious, I went ahead and wrote the Riku vs Maleficent scene that happened back during Falling to Pieces--you can read it here
I actually had a lot of fun with the scene. It was written as if to be a file viewed from CO/TWTNW's computers, which allowed me a lot of freedom with the format.
It allowed me not only write Riku vs Maleficent and "parallel" it to Larxene, linking the whole lightning thing, but also play with the fact that it is not just a memory, but an unstable memory, like all of those in Riku's head.
I considered putting it in Falling to Pieces itself, but the difference in writing style + special format eventually made me decide against it. At least for now anyway. Maybe at a later point I'll put it (or perhaps a modified version without the memory formatting) in Falling to Pieces anyway. I wanted to. Hmm.

Chapter 244 commentary + updates
Updates first, per usual
if you missed it, I updated ch87 of Dead Inside, which is the convo where Kairi and her dad talk
"Why did that need to be updated?" well for reasons I've said literally everywhere, including the chapter itself, and my commentary on it.
But, in short, continuity things concerning Destiny Islands + parents
UPDATE NUMERO DOS
Introducing the FtPverse Character Resource!
The FtPverse Character Resource, or as I'll probably call it in the future when I become more lazy, "the ftpcast blog", is a separate blog created to be a holding space for character posts so they don't have to clutter the front page of this blog
The Home page will be updated with every (important) character eventually, but for now you just have the main cast.
Full character bios/character pages will all be put up eventually, too, but as of today it's only Riku's and Shad's and Kairi's. I'll probably put up Namine's or Sora's later this afternoon
All non-character pages (like gallery and playlists) are under construction.
"Rar this is like the third time you've come up with a new format for character pages can't you stick with one already??"
WELL, the reason for this change--which will hopefully be the last--is that it doesn't require much work outside of copy+pasting for me.
The Original Character Corners were great, except, y'know, they're three years old by now. The Updated Character Corners were also great, minus two things:
1) the bio which includes a summary of their role in all the fics
2) lack of my favorite thing when it comes to character pages, namely, a relationships with other characters section
The New Character Pages fix both of these problems--actually, they fix all three.
See, the New Character Pages are basically just copy+pasted info from my character masterdoc, which I keep up-to-date already for my own personal needs. Since I have to update this info for my own uses, it only becomes one smaller extra chore to update the pages online. All I have to do is copy+paste info, like I said.
The Updated Character Corners, on the other hand, required me to go through and write summaries and... that is a lot of extra work for information that doesn't even benefit me.
"Well I liked the bios/summaries of their roles." Did you? Great. Do you want to write them yourself and include links to chapters and all that other stuff? Because, honestly, if you do, I will be more than happy to let you. PM me or place a comment below or send me an ask on tumblr and I'll hook you up with my email so you can send that stuff to me
(I'm not comfortable giving anyone the admin rights to this blog)

Chapter 242 commentary
So it turns out that Big Thing I had planned for the celebration of finishing Dead Inside? The one I wasn't sure about doing because it was Really Big and needed a lot of work?
I'm doing it.
I'm not quite finished but I'm very very close to being finished. Honestly, though, I probably won't say what it is until Dead Inside is finished. Big reveal or something?? Idk.
Have a Fire Emblem Awakening mix!! I really loved Lucina?? A lot. And this mix is very fitting for her, I think. It's one of my fave mixes recently, regardless.
Though if you want a legit music suggestion for this chapter, I have to suggest CHVRCHES every time, hands down.

Chapter 240 commentary
Okay so this post is going to start off as a variety of different fandoms
I started reading the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, and so far have really enjoyed it (only two books in though, and that first book was the prequel "New Spring")
I pondered a FtPverse AU set in that universe, which you can find here. The highlight of that is probably Aes Sedai!Namine with Warder!Riku. (though Larxene being Ase Sedai--specifically an ElaidaI'm 90% positive Elaida's who i'm thinking of equivalent is fun to consider)
Also a separate Wheel of Time AU where fem!Sora is an Aes Sedai (Aes Sedai are only girls) and Shad is her Warder. But that stems from my desperate hunger for AUS where Sora and Shad are bonded to each other in some way (see also: the Soul Eater crossover)
Along with Wheel of Time, I got deep into Harry Potter AU thoughts last night, and put them on tumblr this morning.
I'll spare you the full breakdown, but I'm really behind the idea of Xehanort being the Voldemort equivalent, and pulling a Triwizard Tournament plot with Terra, which ends with Terra being norted, and Aqua fervently signing up for the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher position to pass on all her knowledge about Xehanort/Terra as soon as possible
This is a Fire Emblem Awakening mix because it's basically a perfect mix sighs deeply--artwork can be found here
Also, Ever After by Marianas Trench is an absolutely beautiful song.

Happy 4th anniversary!! (ch238 commentary)
Thhhhheerreee's no special anything going on this anniversary
I mean. I can say I've finished Dead Inside though! And we're only like.... 8 chapters from it all being posted (so like another month haha.... ha.....)

Chapter 236 commentary
So I finally got into Blue October pretty recently. How it took me this long is actually... kinda... a mystery... I own two of their albums haha.
But I guess I had to hear a song of theirs elsewhere (the song was Picking up the Pieces) for my brain to go "hey. hey this music is pretty nice" because the songs in my itunes library I'd already classified as music I "didn't like"

Anyway so I really like their Approaching Normal album and... really wish... I owned it *sad face*
If you're interested in more headcanons for the music tastes of the FtP cast, well, I did a post on that. I'd repost it here but it's kind of disjointed and would probably take me a full blog post
The most important thing is that Sora and Shad both like Blue October a lot but neither of them can listen to Hate Me. For like. Super obvious reasons. Sora can't get through it without crying, and while Shad's a masochist and will force himself to listen to it, it leaves him upset for the rest of the day. It eventually got deleted from their itunes library
(whether they deleted it out of mutual agreement, or Kairi stole Sora's computer and deleted it is a mystery. I wouldn't put it past Kairi though)
The soundtrack page has also been revamped, fixing the tracklist to better suit the series and stuff. I also included the 8tracks Soundtrack Mixes on the page. So that's pretty neat-o.

I FINISHED DEAD INSIDE chapter 234 commentary

Chapter 233 Commentary

That's right! 13 chapters from here to the end of Dead Inside. I haven't actually finished Dead Inside at the time of writing this, but I know Dead Inside's gonna be 246 chapters (excluding the ending author's note)

This mix has absolutely nothing to do with the chapter but I am super super proud of this mix I made. It's canon Namine by the way and.... I love it....

I'm. Thank you. Thank you so so so much. Just. Thank you.
I can't tell you how much hate I was going to get for these chapters. How much hate I was going to get over Shad's true intentions and feelings and everything. I expected so so so much of it and while I'd made peace with that ("fics are supposed to be self indulgent I can do what I want") it's still really nice to get the exact opposite of what I expected.
