Dead Inside Edits: Chapters 1-4

I was planning on doing a post like this for every five chapters of Dead Inside I update, but!! Since I had four done and it wasn't going to just me talking about two, I figured I'd go ahead and knock this outta the park. Ch5 can be tacked onto the post for ch6-10. It's cool.


"Weren't you going to do Kairi stuff first??" Well, sure! But these are already done, and, I dunno. I'm in the mood to do this, so here I am.

Chapter 1

- made it a better First Chapter, especially if you decided to skip FtP, the book. Starts w/ a flashback now.

- cleared up a lot of continuity errors concerning the Rebellion and Replicas in general??? there were A Ton

- had to change Joseph’s intro scene, but, that’s for the better, probably

- moved and tweaked the Axel scene, most notably: he now says something along the lines of "I'm helping the Rebellion because it's what Roxas would've wanted"

This was generally just updates done because "holy crud there were a ton of continuity errors??? why"

Chapter 2

- This whole scene got rewritten and replaced with a brandnew new one, but of Particular Note outside of that: I removed the "Kairi forgets the events of FtP, the book" bits because They Sucked. I want Kairi to be fully aware of what happened during those three months. It matters (to me).

- I realized Namine/Kairi asking each other if they missed Sora and Riku was Kinda Bullshit because, of course?? they know?? they miss the boys??? It's been three months

- I wanted a NamiKai dance scene!!! SO!!! I PUT IN A NAMIKAI DANCE SCENE!!!! I was already planning on writing one of a similar caliber and putting it in ASAS, to solidify This Is A Thing They Do To Cope, but now it’s in Dead Inside and ~officially~ canon. This was written after ATR57, by the way.

- I took out the sora scene at the end and moved it to chapter 3. instead we have a brand new scene ft….. Sora floating in the realm of darkness? cool.

Chapter 3

- Sora’s scene of waking up OUT of the dark realm (from chapter 2) was moved here, combined w/ Riku finding him. nbd.

- that’s, uh, kind of all that chapter 3 had edited, outside tweaks to make it so the two scenes fit together as one

Chapter 4

- minor tweaks to the first scene, most that I can’t remember.

- one significant (though, still minor) thing was changed at the very end of the first scene. You might not even realize it’s there, but, it has to do with Shad B))

- slight tweaks to the Riku and Axel scene. nothing major, because, I couldn’t care enough to do any major rewriting to it

- more tweaks to the “Sora wakes up and realizes he forgot everything that happened in the past four months???” scene. none of them were significant, just, general text clean up

- edits to the final scene to make 29 sound more like 29, clarify HE’S the on telling Riku about this because Joseph told him

- cut the whole “Sora forgot because it was ~too painful~ to remember, just like Kairi” thing because, NAH. Kairi forgetting sucks. Sora forgetting kinda also sucks but there’s a reason for it, but, regardless, bringing up the whole ~too painful to remember~ thing when it’s not there to explain Kairi’s lack of memory (because Kairi still has her memory) is Pointless, so, now it’s gone

- on that vein: I cut Alpha’s research, as well. frikken BYE
