ANYWHOO CHRISTMAS HEADCANON TIME YO
(If you follow me on tumblr you probably have seen these and I'm too lazy to add anything onto it gomenne)
We'll start with HB gang
It is not christmas until Aerith has listened to a Celtic Heartbeat Christmas
(it’s up for debate whether she’s listened to it for the past five years because hot dang the lyrics for Winter, Fire, and Snow are actually really painful. Maybe she just skips that song)
Zack bought her an ornament for the Christmas tree every year. After the second year she started insisting he buy one for himself while he was at it.
(He tended to give her three other christmas presents on top of the ornament, because he never knew what exactly to get her and just got her everything. And not because he couldn’t find a gift, but because he kept finding ones that were “perfect” and decided he had the munny for all of them. Aerith tried to talk him out of it but it never worked. He may have eventually started labeling the presents as “from Santa”—who is technically real in the KHverse—but whether or not Aerith believed that is up for debate)
There is a high chance all of the ornaments Zack bought her and himself have remained in a box for the past five years
Though they would’ve had to have survived Radiant Garden’s fall to darkness, anyway, and even then she most likely didn’t have them in Traverse Town, so I suppose it doesn’t matter….
She did pull them down this year (before Dead Inside so I guess “last year”), though, largely just to check and make sure they were safe (they were), because this would be their first Christmas in her house since Radiant Garden fell
(Whether or not she actually put them on the tree is another story, but I’d imagine those were among the only ornaments that survived so. I guess she did.)

Yuffie insisted on getting tinsel for the tree. It can still be found around the house to this day
They would’ve each gotten a new ornament to put on the tree (Aerith started the tradition back in Traverse Town) but the holiday shop has not reopened since HB was restored
they made handmade ornaments instead
Yuffie cannot get enough of candy canes or any other sort of peppermint candy
Leon still managed to receive a gift from Rinoa, magically placed amongst all the rest of the presents on Christmas morning. He isn’t sure how she did it, given the change of address and the fact it definitely arrived Christmas morning and wasn’t there Christmas Eve. But he’s also pretty used to Rinoa’s magic so he didn’t question it too much
(His gift to her arrived a week late.)
Cid can’t stand most Christmas carols, and drinks hot chocolate by the gallon. (Well he drinks a cup at a time but he still drinks five or six cups a day)
Aerith may or may not have insisted on matching sweaters for all of them
Cid and Yuffie routinely steal each other’s candy canes, because Cid enjoys them too. (This is the only time of year he isn’t constantly chewing on a straw or toothpick. Instead he chews candy canes.)
Yuffie always ends up stealing more of Cid’s candycanes than he steals of hers, though
(he’ll steal hers from plain sight, and when she complains, he’ll tell Aerith “well I can guarantee she’s already stolen a box of mine from my closet, so I don’t see why stealing one or two from her is going to be a problem”)
On another note, Cid probably tries to hide his candy canes so Yuffie can’t find them. He is only slightly successful.
AND SO EVERYONE ELSE NOW tho this is mainly just Kairi and Namine heh
OKAY WELL the Christmas this year (Christmas fell during Nothing’s Fair) as I’ve mentioned was basically Kairi going “Christmas!!” and Namine going “huh?” and Kairi going “…oh”
because Namine didn’t know what the frik Christmas is. Riku doesn’t know what the frik Christmas is. Riku still doesn’t know what the frik Christmas is because he wasn’t home and I’d be shocked if they bothered to celebrate it in CO
Sora was in the Realm of Darkness for Christmas and most likely never realized it was Christmas (if he was even conscious)
BUT IT’S KAIRI AND NAMINE THAT’S FUN so yeah it was mainly just adventures explaining to Namine what Christmas was while Namine was like “wow Riku’s sure missing out” and Kairi was like “yeah and Sora’s not here and it’s absolutely weird that boy better get his ass back home soon”
(haha there’s actually a song called “ass back home” but I think it’s too vulgar for SoKai?? It’s been a while since I’ve listened to it I just tend to think of it in times like now)
SO FLASHBACK TIME~
Sora and Kairi are both only children so I imagine they sorta have a muffled Christmas with their parents before going over to each other’s houses and going from there. They probably swap houses every year
(I say "muffled Christmas" because I have a family of five plus one or two on occasion so Christmas is a Big Deal and there's a lot of gifts but since Kairi and Sora are only children it's not as involved)
WOULDN’T IT BE SWEET BUT also sad if Kairi’s mom went and visited Santa in ChristmasTown (becasue Santa frikken exists in KH) every year and would pick out a gift for Kairi and request that he deliver that to her. But of course not say who it’s from.
it would be huh.
OH WAIT YEAH FUTURE AGAIN I STILL HAVE THOUGHTS LIKE
Namine panicking becasue “idk what to get anybody present wise i have to give presents????” and Kairi just being like “well you really only have to give me something because BOTH OUR BOYFRIENDS AREN’T HERE” no she is not bitter about that what are you talking about
ahhhh since it’s just Kairi and her dad actually chances are their Christmas with opening presents and stuff goes quickly
and it goes sorta quickly for Sora too I mean it’s just him and his parents
maybe they all go over to Sora’s house like Kairi and her dad go and they have christmas there idk who knows
I LIKE THE IDEA OF SORA GOING TO KAIRI’S HOUSE BUNDLED UP WITH GIFTS FOR HER FROM HIM AND HIS PARENTS AND VICE VERSA THO and of course he brings the coolest gifts he got this year to show them off
Kairi’d sorta do the same but she’d only come with two gifts for Sora of course and bring maybe one present she’s really excited about to show off but otherwise I don’t see her showing too much stuff of it depends on the gifts she gets. She’s just less prone to do it than Sora
IT’S UP FOR DEBATE WHETHER OR NOT KAIRI AND HER DAD GET A GIFT FROM KAIRI’S MOM EVERY YEAR?? It depends on whether or not her mom is dead or just “mysteriously vanished” and more importantly whether or not she actively tries to keep contact with them (which she may not)
TBH tho I waffle a lot about Kairi’s mom but one of my fave ideas is that she’s actually just off kicking ass somewhere because she’s not good at sitting still or something and she’d later show up in book 5 or so like “KAIRI IS THIS YOUR BOYFRIEND?? YES?? my god what happened to him he looks like something the cat dragged in” and she’s got Sora by like the scruff of his shirt and he’s just like “hey" andand it goes sorta quickly for Sora too I mean it’s just him and his parents

I IMAGINE IT WAS REAL STRESSFUL FOR NAMINE and it’ll be real stressful for Riku when he finally gets to christmas he’ll very easily be like “buY ALL THE THINGS FOR NAMINE” (he’s similar to Zack in that respect) but for everyone else he’s like ???? not becaseu he doesn’t have munny but becasue he doesn’t know what anyone likes
also he’ll have to get gifts for Aerith and the rest of the HB gang and maybe he’ll have something in mind for Aerith but otherwise he’s just like I DUNN O BUT THEY’RE FAMILY I NEED TO GIVE THEM GIFTS UHHHHHHHHHHHH *nervous sweating*

no but really that's all I got without getting into spoilers and spoilers is like the main reason I'm not doing a Christmas chapter is actually the lack of ideas but also canonically Christmas doesn't happen until after book 5 and like. Too many spoilers to deal with. Too many.
Unless I put it in an out of context setting which maybe I'll do idk probably I won't tbh I'm too busy playing Super Paper Mario and actually writing Dead Inside and planning Paper Mario novelizations heh
