MUSIC DUMP TIME IDK HEADCANONS AND SUCH

I figured I'd put it over here (it's not different from what's on tumblr. not much anyway. ACTUALLY THO I GET INTO SOME EXTRA THOUGHTS AT THE END WHOO)

LET'S TALK CHARRIES FAVORITE MUSIC


Shad

Shad likes loud music. Songs that are just designed to be blared through your speakers as you scream their lyrics at the top of your lungs

in which case he’d like Fall out Boy and My Chemical Romance and Panic! At the Disco

and maybe All Time Low along with A Day to Remember?? I don’t own a lot of music by these bands but the songs I own/know have a similar mood and

Riku

OF COURSE RIKU REALLY LIKES LINKIN PARK. He likes Linkin Park and RED and Evanescence and probably Dead by April

buuuuuuuuuuuut

He also is a huge fan of of Monsters and Men and Snow Patrol and possibly Mumford & Sons along with that. Because. Family. Feels.

And while songs he can scream to and that vent his frustration are wonderful sometimes he likes sitting there and listening to songs that make him feel… that… that give him a sense of home. Like it wouldn’t be limited only to those artists—it’d just be any type of those songs. 

Namine

Namine’d is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge fan of instrumental music, so Two Steps from Hell and Kyle Landry and Lindsey Stirling along with classical music and soundtracks and orchestral music and

she likes it because she can kind of just turn it on and her brain goes INSPIIIIIRAAATIIOOON~~ and she suddenly has all these drawing feels and ideas and it helps her focus and think.

Sora

Sora’d be a big fan of bands like Bastille.

Bands who have songs with interesting lyrics—so you’d probably get some Panic! mixed in with it and Owl City and Imagine Dragons

and he is especially a fan of songs that tell stories (like “Pompeii” and “Icarus” and probably “the Fighter” among others)

AND HE REALLY DOESN’T LIKE SONGS THAT REVOLVE ONLY AROUND ANGSTY BREAK UPS like he literally can’t stand them and if they’re ever listening to Riku’s music Sora has to ask him to skip every third song (because that's the nature of music Riku listens to aha)

Also Sora's a biiiiiiiiiiiig fan of VOCALOIDs because a very large portion of music which you can classify as VOCALOID is songs that have PVs and stories attached to them (Like the Evil Saga, or Synchronicity, or even one-shot songs like "The Wolf Fell In Love with Little Red Riding Hood")

And you even have PVs that fall into his favorite genre! Fantasy! Knights and Princesses! Magic! Fairytales! Like the more I think about it the more it makes sense that Sora likes VOCALOIDs.

(Idk who his favorite VOCALOID would be but for convenience it's probably the Kagamine twins because that's about 2/3s of the VOCALOID music I listen to aha)

Ye.

AND THEN OF COURSE one time while they're listening to Sora's music

One of the VOCALOID songs comes on

And Riku pauses

because

he understands

Japanese

And he'll turn to Sora and be like "do you even know what they're saying!?" and Sora's like "yeah I've got a rough idea" and he'd lay down the basic plot of the PV

And Riku's just like ????

And Sora's like "I watch the videos with English subs. It's not that hard to figure out what's going on"

BUT! OF COURSE! There will be some occasions where Sora grabs Riku and is like "QUICK I NEED YOU TO TRANSLATE THIS FOR ME I CAN'T FIND ENGLISH SUBS AND I NEEED TO KNOOOOOOOWWW"

And Riku sorta frowns because he doesn't want to be a translator

but the does it anyway because Sora's his friend and

and then at one point Sora’s forcing Riku to translate a video for him and Riku pauses about halfway through it when something serious happens and he goes “oh my god” and kind of sits there for five minutes and Sora’s like “whaaaaaaaaaaat??? what happeenned??”
like he was watching the video too so he saw it but he wants to know what they said and Riku very slowly explains it to him but he’s still a little alsjdf and Sora complains and
and after that Riku insists to watch the PVs first and then translate the lyrics and just sub the videos for Sora so a) that doesn’t happen again and b) so he doesn’t have to sit and be Sora’s translator anymore

aaaaannnddd theeeeeennn they'd start their on youtube channel for subs (similar to vgperson or amesubs or lordxwillie) and Riku'd just sit and sub songs--or he'd just upload the videos he's already subbed for Sora because they might as well share them he's already done all the work

and yeaaah

That's sort of all the headcanons I have about music?

Like I know Joseph doesn't have much a preference when it comes to music he literally loves listening to everything

and then I didn't have many ideas for Kairi

Like I'd immaagiiiine that Kairi listens to similar music that Sora does because they literally grew up together and they share music and they get each other hooked on things so she probably likes a lot of Sora's fave bands and she's into VOCALOID music

OMG THO BUT  imagine the two of them acting out some of these VOCALOID PVs like Kairi'd be Rin nearly 100% of the time because she's the princess and then Sora's Len because he's always the knight/hero

AND I JUST yeah idk it's a fun little thought y'know? 

Another fun thought is Sora sitting and listening to some of his VOCALOID music and he's belting the lyrics out as best as he can and Riku rolls his eyes and stops him and corrects him because he's getting pronunciation wrong or something and

Meanwhile Riku's actually really good at singing when he's not angrily screaming lyrics--and one time Namine catches him singing along to of Monsters and Men (since he usually doesn't like getting caught listening to that sort of music tbh tho of course Namine knows)

And she's like "y'know you have a really nice voice"

and he turns bright red and gets all flustered and

and
