(It's 1AM where I am and I was ateeeempting to fight Ansem, except, well, see below)
I know. You’re probably thinking “oh, if you’re half-asleep, you’re gonna do worse!”
Actually, no.
See, tired—at least how I classify it for the purpose of this—usually means you’ve been up for at least twelve hours. It’s probably late at night (especially this is a final boss battle). And, if you’re having trouble with a boss, or any Difficult Part of a game, I really do suggest quitting and coming back to it tomorrow.
Preferably tomorrow morning right after you wake up, but we’ll get to that in a sec.
See, it’s usually not that smart to tackle a boss—especially a final boss—when it’s starting to get late at night. When you’re tired, it’s a) a little harder to concentrate, and, b) you’re patience gets thinner and thinner with each loss. You’re definitely not playing your best.
Now, why do you need to come back to this first thing tomorrow morning?
Because if you’re having trouble with a boss, you’ve probably been at it for a while now. You know how this boss fights and you know how to beat it, it’s just a matter of actually doing so (which isn’t easy to do when you aren’t playing your best and are also very irritable).
And, first thing tomorrow morning, you’re going to be half-asleep. You’ll be nice and rested but you won’t be awake enough to entirely process a lot of stuff. That’s where the muscle-memory kicks in, and without your Tired Over-Thinking to override it, that boss hasn’t got much of a chance.
Or, at the very least, the chances of you beating it are much higher.
Happy battling!
