A Glowing Comic Review

Hi!

You've probably seen the new bar on the left side of the page, featuring a "please... [do this thing]" list! There are only three things linked there, but, I thought I should go ahead and go in depth about them!

Please read Cucumber Quest - http://cucumber.gigidigi.com/

I've already talked about Cucumber Quest, but:

Cucumber Quest is a webcomic by Gigi DG and is by far one of the most enthralling stories I have read in a long time. Currently clocking in at 630 pages and five chapters (three plus a prologue and a "chapter zero") with the current Chapter 3 being the best part of the comic so far ((and, it's only going to get better!?!?))

If you've liked any Paper Mario game, you'll like this. And frankly, if you enjoy a good story at all, you'll like this.

I cannot list a better place to find a well written story with well rounded characters (including the villains! the Nightmare Knight is my fave..... but, then again, he'll probably be your fave too!)

Also the art is gorgeous and I'm so so so so excited to see where the story leads from here!! Please check it out!!! You won't regret it!!

Please play Undertale - http://undertale.com/

I've already talked about Undertale, and it's not a webcomic, so while I'll mention it here, I'm just going to redirect you to this page, where I've already gushed about it.

((And if you've already played the game and haven't had a chance to replay it---which I highly highly recommend!! At least once!!!---then check out this video documenting all the different endings you can get))

Please read Paranatural http://www.paranatural.net/comic/chapter-1

I just started reading Paranatural within the past few weeks and it's really good!!! It's about a group of teens fighting ghosts w/ their own supernatural powers! And!!! It's really good!!!!

I haven't been preparing a spiel about this one (my spiel about CQ has been practiced and repeated for ages, by the way, have you considered reading Cucumber Quest?)

Buuut Paranatural has a neat magic (er, is it magic?) system, along with some really great characters!!! I wanna know a lot more about Isaac (though I'm also partial to weather elementals, lmao) and Isabelle was the focus of the last chapter and I want to learn more about her, too!! She's great!

Also the humor in this is really good and the art's super great (after chap 1 anyhoo) and Zack really has a way w/ facial expressions.

Oh!! This is definitely a 15 y/o + (or, rated T) comic, for swearing and excess violence, but, I guess if you're a fan of FtPverse you're fine (though it definitely has more swearing than FtPverse ever has)

Some other webcomics I really enjoy!!!

  • Witchy - I started reading this recently and it's only got one chapter so far, but, I really enjoyed said first chapter! This is about a land where the strength of your magic is determined by the length of your hair, and, well, it's really neat!!
  • Big Crystals - this one's only also got like a chapter so far but I'm excited to see where this one goes!
  • Jailbird - another comic with only a chapter or so (this one may have two) to it's name, but it's a charming little story which has quite a way with visual story telling vs dialogue
  • Balderdash! - a story about two witches who leave their home to explore a new calling in life ((according to the about page, this is also rated T))
  • The Property of Hate - an interesting comic about a little girl dragged into a world of imagination to become it's Hero. I've been reading this one for a while, and it's really great! Watching this world develop has been absolutely fascinating!
I'd also rate it at T though, for swears and Darker Subject Matter (but again, if you're reading FtPverse, you're probably fine)

((oh, and here's a link to TPoH on another site which has comments, useful just in case you're curious about something and perhaps the author has already answered the question))

And anyway, that's it!!! Enjoy!!!

Also ATR will update hopefully later today! And I may have something else planned, too.....
