I recently
got into Portal
and am very very very very glad I did because wow the dialogue in that game. And GLaDOS. Just. GLaDOS.

IT'S A REALLY NICE GAME. SERIES. THING. Personally I find Portal 2 more enthralling than Portal 1 but you sort of have to have played/watched Portal 1 for Portal 2 to make sense because GLaDOS.

Regardless I linked to the playlist so you could just watch a playthrough.
Or if you want to buy the games they're both on steam for $30 total. ($10 for 1 and $20 for 2. no surprise. AND NOT EVEN BECAUSE THE NUMBERS but because the content of each)

(Watching a playthrough makes nice background noise while you work anyway because it's not like you have to watch as they solve the puzzle you can let that play in the background while you do something else and then just pay attention to the dialogue when it comes up which is 80% of the time at the end of a puzzle)

Ah frickle Minnie normally doesn’t interrupt Mickey so he can get his thoughts out sigh

But I think in this case she’s probably like “Maleficent is much more important than the dark presence you fought which we all know is Sora’s Shadow” and she assumes is just causing minor trouble she can’t anticipate the news they have on Sora’s Shadow potentially being immortal no one could’ve anticipated that news

Mickey went INSTANT PANIC MODE but how do I describe

A lot of the trouble I run into is I know exactly what they’re doing it’s one of those things that we’re so used to seeing in the cartoons but then words never?? Seem to?? Do it justice and it’s hella frustrating tbh

Nothing gives me pleasure like various headcanons about Minnie and Mickey coping together as a couple and things like Minnie purposely trying not to derail Mickey’s trains of thought if she can avoid it and Minnie trying not to drop too much on Mickey at once

Like to cut to the chase “I saw Maleficent this is kind of important I’m sorry but I know you’ll be happier if I just tell you now than wait for a spare moment” is one thing

But if she was the kind of person (she’s not) she would’ve sent a really dirty look at Sora for having brought up the thing about Maleficent wanting the Castle so soon because that is too much information to drop on him at once he’s going to flip

Which he does

Because he’s Mickey and if you haven’t noticed he’s easy to panic and also a big fat worrywart

Forget him being calm and composed like he is in KH he’s a frikken worrywart according to nearly every other Disney media and sure he’s a long way down the road by KH but I think he’s honestly a worrywart at heart and even then I’D REALLY RATHER PORTRAY HIM AS A WORRYWART THEN SOME HERO WHO’S HELD ABOVE EVERYONE ELSE? Y’KNOW?? It makes him a little easier to relate to and write for not to mention yay characters with flaws

I also take great pleasure in forcing other people’s words out of Sora’s mouth against his will

Y’see Shad laughs at the Heartless and then laughs harder because he hadn’t intended to laugh through Sora’s mouth but it’s still frikken hilarious

Shad started giggling and I mean downright giggling and I think that’s absolutely wonderful also incredibly hilarious

Donald pushing up his non-existent sleeves is only something that works in a cartoon

THO WAIT DOESN’T HE HAVE SLEEVES LEMME CHECK

This just in:

Donald does have sleeves and they aren’t nonexistent

(Tbh even his regular old "sailor" outfit has sleeves but. I was thinking of him pushing up the feathers of his arm as if they were sleeves, y'know? Of course you know. Who here hasn't seen at least one old Donald Duck cartoon?)

Donald is actually the only one who cares about titles like everyone else is like “eh whatever it’s a title but you don’t have to call me by it” and usually they’re all very adamant about each other’s titles (especially for Minnie and Mickey)

But Donald really really likes to be referred to as his official title—not that he complains too much if he’s not referred to by it

(he respects Mickey enough to not berate him or Minnie about it, can’t berate Daisy seeing as she’s his girlfriend, and Goofy doesn’t listen. At all.)

My largest problem with writing Mickey before was that I was?? Trying to be formal with him. And that?? Hahahahah yeah no. 

I don’t care how he’s portrayed in KH half the time he’s not formal in the slightest. A little old fashioned, maybe, but not formal. Really.

(Idr if that’s off for him throughout KH or if I’m imagining it. Been a while since I’ve played a KH game with him in it ha. Been a while since I’ve played a KH game. I've only played CoM recently and not frequently I'm still on like. floor 8)

*smushes face* they’re like worried parents 100% like worried parents ahhhhh

(Mickey’s sort of worried of what might happen to Sora with Maleficent and Shad involved while he’s not there. He trusts Donald and Goofy a lot but he’s not sure how well they could defend Sora against that, especially seeing how only Goofy can see Shad. Plus putting Sora up against Maleficent seems like a bad idea in general even without Shad in the mix)

Initially I was going to have Shad in on this conversation too but it all got started by him threatening Sora and I decided not to go that route

THO I SHOULD REALLY POST THE TEMPLATE DIALOGUE IT WAS GOLD it just wasn’t flowing because I feel like Mickey’d be too worried should Shad threaten Sora also the threat didn’t feel right

But here's the template dialogue:

“Then again… there is Sora’s health to consider…” Minnie says, slowly

“I’m fine!” Sora protests “IT was just- just my shadow. He—”

And then he hears

Shad’s voice

“Stay in that castle or I will fucking slit your throat in your sleep tonight”

Sora sits bolt upright

“well that’s not a very nice way to ask me to do something!” he says aloud and he’s horrified

Both Mickey and Minnie stare at him

“S… sorry” and Sora shakes his head “He threatened me. My Shadow. I can hear him in my head” and he kinda points at his ear/head

“Threatened?” Mickey asks

Sora swallows “He wants me to stay in the castle”

[[“Please” Shad adds]]

“Well there can’t be a good reason for that” Minnie says, and she’s frowning with worry both she and Mickey are 100% concerned “maybe you should leave. What do you think he’s planning?”

“I could always ask--” Sora begins

“I won’t tell” Shad interrupts

“Nevermind he says he won’t tell me” Sora sighs

“Horrible timing…” Mickey mutters “with Maleficent and all… do you think he’s working with her?”

And he hardly finishes the sentence before Sora blurts

“no!”

Mickey blinks a few times

Doesn’t question it tho

“Alright…” he sighs and he and Minnie exchanges glances and it’s one long look idk if they can communicate through facial expressions but Mickey’s worried about Sora “I’ll- I’ll send Goofy and Donald to check Hollow Bastion later” Mickey says, with slow nod “Sora, for now… maybe you should stay here”

Yeah, you can see why!! It's exciting!! But having Mickey blow off Shad threatening Sora's life especially considering why he's so worried about sending Sora after Maleficent...

You see....

my dilemma....

And that's really it!!!
