Today is the anniversary of the first time I beat Skyward Sword

So I decided I'd play through the ending again tonight, on my dad's file, since he's the only one with a file towards the end. I won't save over it or anything

Anyway

I love my dad for insisting on having a Guardian potion on hand at all times. Those things are really handy. Thanks to it, I took NO damage during the final battle

Thus, Demise could not kill me

Thus, I finished the battle in, oh, ten minutes

Without using recovery items (though that was mainly thanks to the Guardian potion)

And without the Hylian Shield

Not that you need that shield

but, y'know, INVINCIBLE SHIELD

So

Yeah

like, ten minutes

Cool

go... read this nice Skyward Sword fanfic (unless you haven't finished the game, because it's got spoilers)

Yeah

Magik wants me to fight Demise without the guardian potion now

I will sit through the credits, and then see what sort of mood I'm in then

CHRISTMAS IS TOMORROW, EVERYBODY! WHOO
(unless you don't celebrate it...)

CORRECTION

Christmas is in 55 minutes. lol

EDIT (12:13 am. Christmas day :D)

So I beat Demise without the Guardian potion

Actually, I beat him without any recovery items

I just took like, VERY LITTLE damage during the first half of the battle (so long as you don't go overboard with attacking him, and just block as many of his attacks as you can, this isn't hard to do) and then somehow managed to avoid all his other attacks and kill him

I backflipped a lot. Apparently that's how you avoid all his stupid sword swinging attacks that deal 2-4 hearts damage

So, because I feel like it, I'm going to start a new thing (though this might be the only blog I ever do on this subject) and give you BATTLE TIPS! WHOOO!! (I've turned it into a label, too)

Game: Zelda: Skyward Sword

Boss: Demise

Recommended items: Hylian Shield (this is not necessary, though, see rant below), a couple fairies, some red potion (preferably powered up to its full extent), and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND a Guardian potion powered up to its full extent, because it prevents you from taking any and all damage

First half of the battle: So, basically, this is just a one-on-one section, where you take turns blocking and attacking. Easy peasy (especially if you have the invincible Hylian Shield)

DON'T get cocky, DON'T get frantic, FOCUS on blocking his attacks. You'll want to save your hearts for later, trust me, and why waste them when it's ridiculously easy to avoid losing them?

AND IF YOU HAVE THAT GUARDIAN POTION, SAVE IT!

Hopefully you've gotten the Hylian Shield, but that's okay if you didn't (it makes the battle easier, yes, but only slightly so, and it's almost not worth sitting through 8 rounds of previously fought bosses (in the Thunder Dragon's Lightning Round) to get it if you don't want to). If you don't have the Hylian Shield, be prepared to shield bash until your left hand hurts from the cramps (the Hylian shield makes this easier purely because shield bashing is not required to block an attack, since it CAN'T BREAK) you'll undoubtedly get from blocking all of Demise's attacks

But there's a simple pattern to this (much like the Riku2 battle from KH1)

Block his attack, hit him once or twice, block again. You CAN hit him more than once if you WANT to lose hearts, but I don't suggest this. Seriously. It's better to be patient with this part of the battle

USE THAT GUARDIAN POTION AT THE START OF THE SECOND HALF OF THE BATTLE!! You'll be glad you did

Second half: You see how Demise preforms something similar to a Skyward Strike at the beginning of this battle? COPY HIS ACTIONS! No, you will not preform a Skyward Strike, but your sword will be charged up with lightning, and you can give Demise a taste of his own medicine (it also makes this battle a crapton easier)

Best time to do this? Right after/as Demise charges up his own sword, because then he won't be attacking you.

Swing your sword to throw the lightning at him. Yes, he may block it. Yes, you may miss. If he has his own sword charged up, then it's likely he'll use his lightning to block yours. He doesn't always, though, and getting your sword charged with lightning when he's attacking you is a pain in the butt.

WARNING: do not attack him if his sword is charged with lightning. He will block you, and you will be electrocuted

Once you manage to hit him with lightning, he will be stunned. Run up to him and attack as many times as you can. If you want to be safe, hit him five or so times and then run. Otherwise, attack him until he blocks you, and then backflip out of the way as soon as possible.

If he attacks you, EVER, backflip out of the way. Jumping to the side only seems to guarantee that you'll be hit. Trust me. BACKFLIP. I avoided a lot of damage by continuously backflipping away from him while he was attacking, because the attacks somehow missed. I'm not complaining.

So, repeat this process until you knock him to the ground. Preform a final/finishing blow. IT WILL MISS.

Did you think the incarnate of all that is evil would be felled by a single fatal blow? He's not Ganondorf! Of course not!

Repeat the "charge your sword with lightning, hit him with lightning, attack him frantically" process. He should fall to the ground again after just one of these. Deal a final blow this time, and CONGRATULATIONS! You've just beaten the game. Enjoy ten minutes of credits, and attempt Hero Mode if you dare

(I think I should write a walkthrough. Or maybe just a battle walkthrough... I'll probably start with Twilight Princess, though, because I know that game inside out. though a battle walkthrough sounds MUCH more appealing)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
