THIS SCENE

I mean I was just sort of sitting there I guess and then I think Joseph started talking?? Or 29? But one of them did and I'm like I AM NEVER GOING TO CATCH THEM IN THIS MOOD AGAIN I NEED TO GET WRITING

Also, if you haven't heard already, it is 100% canon that Joseph has an N64

And since I don't think I've talked about his 64, we're gonna talk about it!

See, there's at least a month where Joseph was kind of hiding in Castle Oblivion (to stay away from Saix) and 29 needed some way to keep Joseph occupied and out of Saix's way and from wandering back to TWTNW was, so... he bought him a Nintendo 64.

Why an N64 when they're kind of old? (I mean the fic takes place in 2011 according to the OFFICIAL timeline (and calendar) but even if it took place in 2002 the GameCube would be out by then)

But the N64 was the first one he found (for a decent price), probably at yard sale. It was packaged with Mario Party 1, Mario Kart, and Super Mario 64.
(Tbh it's only packaged with them because I can't see 29 buying them separately. At least not Mario Party or Mario Kart, since they're multiplayer, for the most part.)

Joseph eventually did all he could with Mario Party and Mario Kart, and also got stuck on Super Mario 64 (it's certainly not the easiest game ever; I certainly can see Joseph getting stuck on a level--or mulitple levels--and being bored and wanting something new). So 29 bought Joseph other games, like Ocarina of Time (which he's actually playing in this chapter), and then Star Fox 64, and Paper Mario.

Yup.

(Joseph also hasn't played Super Smash Brothers because I really can't see 29 buying that for him, and then later he and Toby get Yoshi's Story. Offset. Not in-story. I meant to have a thing on tumblr about it but that hasn't happened yet)

If Joseph ever sits on the clocktower, I bet it’s never with 29. 29’d have a panic attack. Heights, y’know? Heh.

OKAY? okay. Sorry. Don't get me started on the relationship between Joseph and 29 because it is literally the best thing ever and I could sit and rant except it wouldn't be a good rant it'd basically just be THESE ARE MY FEELS and yeah

Imagine the ice cream lady, though.

Joseph shows up nearly every day to get ice cream, and often times has a Vexen Replica with him.

She can’t tell the Vexen Replicas apart

Though Joseph’ll obviously treat each one differently

And I figure that leads to confusion and conundrums and things

Heh. You can tell 29 isn’t a normal Vexen because he uses words like melty and glop

no but really he is the least Vexen-like Vexen I have ever written for

The fact that 29 was the only one smart enough to move Joseph out of TWTNW aside, of course
