2022 UPDATE???

Look, as much as I loved leaving this blog in a time capsule with the last post being from 2017, there's some things I like, wanted on the table, especially since I have officially completed all edits I anticipate wanting to do for FtPverse, ever, and also have like, moved to Ao3, so. 

Things.

1) FtPverse has moved to Ao3!

Very unlikely that you missed this, but figured that this blog probably still had old links everywhere, so wanted to gently hand you the appropriate link to the series. You can read it on Ao3 here!

I finished posting ATR on ao3 obviously, and also made some 2022 edits to Dead Inside (LMAO) that went there and there only. Also when I'm posting new stuff to the series, it goes on Ao3! Obviously!!!! 

I'm not really still writing for ftpverse, but, well-- well I answer that below, so you'll see

2) DI edits / ATR Edits

I am actually officially done doing edits to FtPverse, forever, in that I cannot feasibly imagine wanting to edit anything else. I've tackled everything! That's it! It's all done!

I made some 2022 edits - which were my final edits - to finish cleaning up some ShadKai things that I'd always thought idly about but never got around to (ch173 edits so they actually talk to each other, mainly) but you can find more details about that per usual on the di edits tag on my tumblr lol 

since there is a chance that FFN goes kaput, and i could see the appeal of having it all in one place outside of FFN, I've copied down the changelog that gave an abreviated account of the DI edits and put that on a post on tumblr here, if you want it

ATR also got edits; mostly Sora continuity things in the first 30 chapters, becuase I reread the end of Dead Inside and then poked at ATR ch3 and went what the fuck. Sora was not acting like he was mad at [redacted] for [events of ch 228-232] DURING the end of Dead Inside, so why is he acting all weird about it now in ATR???? a more indepth and not redacted for spoilers recounting of events / documenting of changes can be found in the atr edits tag . lol

But yeah, to requote myself from tumblr: 

also congrats everybody this is i think officially me 100% done with editing ftpverse! short of me coming back in another year or two like wait why is that there. i gotta delete it. but i have officially covered all the things i was planning and the things i discovered along the way after adjsuting what i was planning to adjust. so: neat i guess!

 

3) other/new ftpverse projects (like, dywc)

I mentioned above that when there is new ftpverse content it goes on ao3, and that's true!

i had lofty plans to write a ton of stuff post ATR, but that never really happened. BUT. but.

- > I have a fic of post ATR oneshots called hello tomorrow

it's not got a lot, and it's mostly only gets updated whenever I want to write something real fast (usually around the anniversary) but it DOES exist! just so you're aware of it!

- > DYWC, a panfandom crossover series

 do you know. super smash brothers brawl. do you know subspace emmissary. what if: i did this but with my favorite characters, including the main 6 ftpverse cast??? it's fun it's set post ATR they get to hang out and bond 

 

4) other projects (non ftpverse)

Dead Inside Edits and This Blog May Be Dead!?

First off let's talk about the blog.

Well, I stopped doing chapter commentary on here, and chapter commentary was basically the Only content this blog has been getting for the past two years so, yeah. It's kind of dead, tbh. Tumblr's just easier, more convenient, etc.

Of course I won't take the blog down, it'll stay open, but. Probably don't expect new posts on here frequently, if, ever again. We had a good run though.

Chapter commentary now lives on tumblr! It has its own tag on the ftpverse tumblr here.

That Dead Inside Edit Update

I finished rereading Dead Inside, and have started edits again! Er, whenever I find the time and energy, that is.

I might do Dead Inside edit posts on this blog still, whenever I have five or so chapters to talk about. But. We'll see.

Keep stalking the "di edits" tag on the ftpverse tumblr to see what's up with Dead Inside edits.

I did go ahead and edit a few chapters recently, though!! The only one of note is chapter 90. Amaryllis was getting flustered about something and Alpha calmed him, initially, and we all know that actually that should be the other way around. So I edited it to make it the other way around!! And, uh, had a lot of feelings about the Alpha/Amaryllis dynamic..........

The other two chapters I edited (91 and 105) were just continuity edits, largely caused directly by the fact I edited something in ch90 and it affected those two chapters too.

Continuity edits aren't really interesting to report, though, so that's all I gotta say.

Another Dead Inside Edits Post

I feel like in all previous things about the subject I've just talked around in circles, so here's what I hope is a clear and concise list of what's up w/ Dead Inside!

- I am editing Dead Inside.

- Key word: editing, and not rewriting. While I am rewriting a few chapters, I am NOT starting from the beginning and writing the whole thing over again. I don't have the time or the energy for that. (The edits I made to chapters 110-120 are probably the biggest I'll ever make.)

- "Why are you doing this?" A year ago I was mad about how I'd written Kairi and after complaining about it an anon on tumblr was like "hey you could make edits" and then I was like "HEY I COULD MAKE EDITS!!!" and it's continued from there.

- Kairi edits are all done! Check out batch 1 and batch 2 here, and then this post about a few straggling chapters.

- "What's getting edited?" I don't have a complete list yet, but here's what's on the plate:

• deleting romantic SoKai hints. I will probably delete these from previous stories too, but haven't gotten around to it. (I'm limiting myself so that SoKai hint deletion is the only edits I'll make to TTH and FtP, though boy golly would I love to do more. Just, yanno, energy...)
• Editing HB gang chapters a lot. Who the HB gang is now in ATR feels different than who they used to be in Dead Inside (I didn't fully have a handle of their characters in Dead Inside tbh) and so I'd like to make edits to their dialogue and dynamics so it reads more like the HB gang I know and love. Specifically: making the family dynamics clearer.
• I also want to tackle some Kairi dialogue for similar reasons. Who I started writing her as is in the beginning completely different than she ended up being, and it wasn't in a "character development" sense it was a "I didn't understand how I wanted my Kairi to work" sense. This problem probably also exists in TTH and FtP, but I don't think I'll be able to edit those, unfortunately.
• Relatedly: I have to make sure the changes I made in the Big Kairi Edits are consistent with the rest of Dead Inside. 
• I need to make sure Kairi's opinions about Sora / other things are in line with what was changed in the Big Kairi Edits
• I have to find all ShadKai instances and tweak them so they're less "Shad has a disgusting crush" and more "they have a weird friendship and maybe Shad is crushing a little but it's not gross".
• Making some details about the Riku and Larxene dynamic more explicit. This is not something I have to do, but it means a lot to me.
• Fixing whatever continuity errors I find. This is vague and I can't even think of any examples.
• Changing parts that either make me go "OH I HATED THIS" or "hmmm maybe this could be executed better?" - I'm trying to have some restraint and only do these kinds of edits if I have to or am just really excited about them

- "When???" GOOD QUESTION. It's a "work in progress". I've finished rereading Dead Inside and have located all the edits I want to do, but they are only going to get done when I have the time and energy. (Both things are hard to come by when you have five other writing projects and also college, though....) Keep an eye on the "di edits" tag for when new ones happen.

- "I can still read Dead Inside while this is going on, right?" YEAH!!! There are continuity errors within Dead Inside itself thanks to the Kairi edits (that Kairi's opinions changed and Shad has a gross crush in some places thing) that you'll have to forgive, but that's the only problem! It's fairly minor, all things considered. Promise.

But Dead Inside is readable as is! And it's good, as is! It's not as good as I'd like it to be, no, but I can't tell you to wait until the edits are done to read it, because I legitimately have no idea how long the edits are gonna take. Please bear with me.

ATR beta - Sora explaining things to his parents (ft: some REAL old ideas about Shad)

Hey!! Just some quick notes regarding this thing.

I was digging through old ATR drafts last night and found the initial draft for Sora explaining things to his parents!! It's from 2011, so it's super old, and it's kind of weird to look at because a) my ideas were super different back then b) it's weird to realize that I had this stuff planned since the beginning. 

Anyway, the draft is here, ch101 of ASAS! This writing is suuuuper old but I thought it'd be cool to share.

I did a post on tumblr last night regarding Shad's attitude / presentation [ here ], which struck me as most bizarre, so check that out because I'm too lazy to type the whole thing up again. The basics is just he was really chill instead of being angry about everything, and also he and Sora still didn't totally get along and while some of the dialogue was funny it made me frowny face.

That's about it!

Another thing about Shad that I didn't bring up on tumblr, is I guess I'd intended all of his actions to be presented from the heartspace. That's what's up with all the italics, as far as I can tell. It's especially noticeable when he's talking through Sora's mouth, because all of his actions ((which are descriptions of his actions, and not Sora feeling them!)) are in italics. But the final scene is also in italics (and was like that when I found it), and acts as if they can see each other, so. I figure it's heartspace interaction.

I mentioned in the author's note but, also featured in this chapter as far as ideas-that-changed:

- Riku and Namine were still living on Destiny Islands in this take ((to be fair, them moving to HB wasn't planned until very very late in Dead Inside, like 2013 Dead Inside.))

- don't even get me started on Kairi's character. she had a completely different personality and, yikes

Heya folks! No chapter commentary for this chapter because, honestly, I'm so tired of doing them, they're exhausting. Instead I've made sure to post all the thoughts I had on my tumblr, and I'll probably doing that for all future chapters!
